In this journey of renewal, we are moving toward a more mature life, quickly recap the journey.
In the first seven days, we meditated on complete salvation.
In the second seven days, we were led by the Holy Spirit through prayer, the Word, and worship. In the next four days, we moved further to follow the Word of God, listen to His voice, and take part in God’s plan.
In the last two days, we faced and overcame both inner and outer battles. Still, salvation, prayer, living in God’s will, and battles are not over. They are part of our daily walk, until our last breath.
At this point, just thought to ask a question to ourselves, why we should agree that God created the heavens and earth ? (our day 1, 1st point). Is question seems atheistic tone ? Keep a warning to ourself that never ever get in to such thinking in our life time.
Actually, God accepted me first, so that I got the wisdom to agree Him. Jesus said this clearly
“You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.” – John 15:16
I really love this verse because it clearly contains everything I need. Each part speaks to my life in a simple and clear way. I will go into the details later.
For now, let me return to our renewal journey and the purpose for which I have been appointed: “Go and bear fruit,” and “your fruit should remain.” There is so much we can meditate on in this verse, but for now, I want to focus only on one part, “bearing fruit”.
A farmer planted a tree, and it grew well over time, and...
No story, point is God chose us and appointed us to bear fruit among those who are not yet chosen. What kind of fruit are we called to bear? Let us look at that.
Let us continue with our legacy meditation pattern. Being fruitful is one of the attributes of the Holy Spirit.
“..the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.” – Galatians 5:22
There are nine characteristics mentioned, and each one is easy to understand. We already know what they mean. The emphasis here is on taking action. Action is not just about bearing fruit, it is about “Go and bear fruit”.
When we meditate on overcoming the evidence of the flesh, we see that if it is found then will not inherit the kingdom of God. The same kind of condition applies to a life that does not bear fruit.
“And even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.” - Matthew 3:10
Father God, Thank You, for choosing me and appointing me to bear fruit that lasts. Thank You for giving me wisdom to know and agree that. Fill me with the fruit of the Spirit, help me overcome the desires of the flesh and remain rooted in You. May my life bring glory to You, in Jesus name Amen.
