Renew – Day 13: The Judge

Today, we are going to meditate on one of the furnishings preserved in the Ark of the Covenant: Aaron’s staff that budded.

There is a big story behind how Aaron’s staff budded. In brief, the people of Israel were arguing about whom God had chosen to be the priest. God instructed the leader of each tribe to place his staff before Him. Overnight, Aaron’s staff not only sprouted, but also budded, blossomed, and produced almonds. This miracle clearly showed God’s choice. We can read this in Numbers chapter 17.So the Staff represent the authority and Judgment

What does Aaron’s staff mean to us today?

Very interesting face here is, in new testment, We already medidated that Ark of the Covenant represent Jesus.

  • Jesus is the Judge
  • Jesus is the Judge of all mankind. There will surely be a Judgment Day. The Father does not judge anyone directly, but He has given all authority to Jesus Christ to judge. Jesus has already been appointed as Judge, and He will judge everyone.

“For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son.” — John 5:22
  • Jesus has the authority.
  • Don't exercise authority

James and John mother came to Jesus with her sons and asked Him to give them the highest places in His kingdom. Jesus told them they did not understand what they were asking, because honor comes through suffering. They said they were ready to suffer. Jesus replied only the Father decides who will receive places of honor. other 10 disciple displeased with John and James. we can read this in Matthew 20:20-24

    Jesus conclude as

"Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant" Matthew 20:26

    Authority is given

"..Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy,.." Luke 10:19

A wise king once ruled his people without forcing them into labor; instead, he appointed them to positions of responsibility and gave them authority. We can read this in

"But of the children of Israel Solomon made no forced laborers, because they were men of war and his servants: his officers, his captains, commanders of his chariots, and his cavalry." 1 Kings 9:22

There are two things to understand here: we are called to be servants for the work of God’s Kingdom, and God does not keep His people as servants forever in secular labor. Even an earthly king did not subject his people to forced labor. Claim this in prayer

Our Prayers at Aaron’s Staff That Budded.

We acknowledge that You are the Judge of all mankind. The Father has given all judgment and all authority into Your hands. Teach us not to seek position, power, or honor for ourselves in Your kingdom on earth. Keep our hearts free from jealousy and rebellious. When You give authority, help us to use it wisely and rightly, not to control or oppress, but to serve and protect. As You have given us authority over the power of the enemy, all authority in our lives reflect Your will and bring glory to You.
